Red Bull ordered Liquid Ice three times in 18 months. Then its hockey club ordered too.

The delivery note reads: FC Red Bull Salzburg, Physiotherapie Red Bull Juniors/Akademie, Salzburg. The academy is where Red Bull trains its young players. The order came from Red Bull GmbH in Fuschl am See: Liquid Ice in the can, with a bandage to soak. The delivery also included pre-soaked bandages and Energicer cans with wrist cooling bands.

Again, and again

Less than a year later the next order arrived from Fuschl, this time made out to the Red Bull academy. It was bigger than the first, and once again pre-soaked bandages, Energicer cans and cooling bands went in the box. In December 2011 the Red Bull Soccer Academy ordered a third time, now refill liquid by the case.

A first order can be curiosity. Three orders in eighteen months is a verdict.

Then the ice hockey club

Five years later a second Red Bull club got in touch. In December 2016 EC Red Bull Salzburg, Red Bull’s ice hockey club, ordered concentrate and cooling bands from us.

Why an academy orders cans

A youth academy has a lot of players and several sessions every day. Cooling there has to work without any preparation. The can and bandage does exactly that: soak the bandage in Liquid Ice, wring it out, wrap it on. The cold comes from evaporation on the fabric, with no ice, no freezer and no waiting.

The Energicer cans with their wrist bands were the forerunner of today’s Self Cooling Band. The can and bandage is now the Self Cooling Bandage: 360 ml of Liquid Ice and an elastic bandage to soak in it. The pre-soaked bandage for your bag is the Active Ice Bandage.

How the can works today

Soak the bandage in the can, wring it out over the can so the leftover Liquid Ice runs back in, and wrap it on. This is the application Dermatest measured. Still cooling after two hours. To reuse it, roll up the dry bandage, dip it again, wring it out and put it back on. Keep the can tightly closed so nothing evaporates. Room temperature is fine. The bandage can go in the wash at 30 °C, just not in the tumble dryer.

Red Bull is not a partner of ours, and we don’t use its logo. We only tell you what the invoices and delivery notes say.
